Can you upgrade Sync 2?

You can download the latest software updates at no charge from the Owner site. Please Note: Ensure your Owner account has been set up, you are logged in and your vehicle has been registered on the Owners site. You need a USB drive that holds 2 GB or more and is not password protected.

What does Sync 2 update include?

This update includes all the improvements from previous updates, as well as additional features to accommodate new and updated devices, such as: Hazard switch illuminates on Focus / Escape with ignition off and park lamps on.

Can you update Ford SYNC 2 to 3?

The SYNC 3 system has unique hardware and software systems. If your vehicle contains SYNC 3, you might be eligible for an update. However, you cannot upgrade between SYNC hardware versions. This means that if your vehicle has SYNC 1 or 2 (MyFord Touch) then you are not eligible to upgrade to SYNC 3.

What version of SYNC 2 do I have?

One of the easiest ways to tell what version of SYNC you have is to look at your center console. Click on the SYNC setup below that looks closest to what’s in your vehicle to see the included features.

How do I install apps on Sync 2?

  1. Press the Voice button on your steering wheel.
  2. Say the command “Mobile Apps.”
  3. SYNC will respond, “Mobile apps, please say a command.” State the name of the application. You can also say “List Mobile Apps” to hear a listing of available apps.
  4. Control the application using the appropriate commands.

Does SYNC 2 have CarPlay?

Sync 2 does NOT support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, if you absolutely must have these features, you have to have Sync 3. All vehicles equipped with Sync 2 are able to be upgraded to have Sync 3, you just need to get a Sync 3 screen, APIM, hub, and hub adapter, along with a bit of AsBuilt Programming (easy!).

Does Android Auto work with SYNC 2?

It will be the SYNC 2 version 2.2 that will allow drivers to link up with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

How do I know if my Ford Sync needs updating?

  1. Log in to your SYNC Owner account.
  2. Visit the SYNC Software Updates page.
  3. If you see a notification that says, “You have recently downloaded an update,” choose Confirm Update. You’ll be instructed on how to report your last successful installation so that we can keep you informed when new updates are available to you.
