Please differentiate:
- with the “e” the second hook is connected at the top , with the “n” the second hook is connected at the bottom:
- the “u” gets a curving line over it , “nn” has an straight line;
- the normal “long s” is for the center of a word, the round “ending s” is used at the end of the word.
How do you write in Kurrent?
One can write the letter “g” in a very simple way. First, you write a letter “a” and then you take a downstroke to the descender line and then take it back up to the baseline in a loop. st is never seperated!

How do you read old German writing?
The first letter shown is used at the beginning of a lowercase word or a syllable (i.e. in “schreiben” – to write). The second “s” is used at the end of a syllable/word (i.e. in “es- it). The final is the capital “S”, used for nouns (always capital in German) and names.
