The cell holds up to 35 gallons. The fuel cell weighs roughly 225 pounds when full. I have been at some pretty crazy angles off road with fuel in the tank and have had zero issues. I have faith in my rivnuts, but I used a quality tool for installation.

How thick can you rivnut?

Rivet nuts typically can grip material thicknesses between 0.010” up to 0.500” thick, but no one rivet nut can cover that entire range!

Are rivnuts strong?

Some are made of rubber to create a watertight seal. Whatever type of rivet nut you choose, they all have similar advantages: They are blind fasteners, so they are reliable, strong, and vibration-resistant.

How strong is a Nutsert?

Member. installed correctly, they’re pretty strong. They come in steel and aluminum. The steel ones are extremely hard to install correctly in the larger sizes without the right specialized tool.

What is the grip range on a rivnut?

0.35 to 0.5 inch
A 1.45-inch long rivet nut has a grip range of 0.35 to 0.5 inch. Rivet nuts are available with a variety of head styles. A wide front-side flange provides a large load-bearing surface. This reinforces the hole and prevents push-through.

How do you size rivnuts?

“Hole Size” should be listed somewhere in the details, which is the size of the hole that has to be drilled for the rivnut to fit into. You should also find “Grip Range”, which is the range of material thicknesses that the rivnut can be used in. You should also find the “Head Diameter”, and the “Length” of the rivnut.

Are rivets strong?

By contrast, solid rivets are perhaps the strongest mechanical fastener available. They are available in high-strength steels and aerospace alloys, and their solid shaft is able to transmit the greatest possible shear force for a given hole size.

How do you calculate rivet strength?

Calculate the shear strength of your rivets by evaluating this formula: F = A x S. Replace S by the shear strength of the metal found in Step 2. Your rivets can tolerate shear forces of up to F Newtons before breaking apart.
